Mosquito Joe of DuPage County and Nothing But Nets

Mosquito Joe is a proud partner of Nothing But Nets, the world’s largest grassroots initiative to eliminate malaria across the globe. To achieve our common goal of eliminating the mosquitoes that transmit, disease, we participate in various campaigns to send life-saving nets to those in need.

Since 2017 Mosquito Joe of DuPage County has partnered with Nothing but Nets, a global grassroots campaign started by the United Nations Foundation to raise awareness and funding to fight malaria, one of the world’s oldest and most deadly diseases.

Through this partnership, Mosquito Joe of DuPage County joins Mosquito Joe corporate, other franchise locations and customers around the country in a collective fight against malaria. Since the start of this partnership, we have raised over $80,000 providing about 8,000 treated bed nets (and counting) that help protect vulnerable families in sub-Saharan Africa, Latin America and the Caribbean from this preventable disease.

How We Help

Together with Nothing But Nets, we recognize that mosquitoes are much more than just a nuisance they are an active threat to the overall health of the community. Our partnership with Nothing But Nets has played a major role in protecting families who live in areas where malaria is a constant threat. The MoJo Bites Back, Beat the Bloodsuckers and Let the MoJo Flow campaigns all raise awareness and funds for this important cause.

MoJo Bites Back

videoGiving back to the community is at the core of what we do at Mosquito Joe. We aim to make outside fun for families in and ensure their yards are itch-free. However, we know that mosquitoes are more than an annoyance, they’re a health concern for people across the globe. This is why we reach out to our customers for our annual MoJo Bites Back campaign. Enjoying an itch-free yard is a luxury for us in the United States so with donations from our loyal and gracious customers, we are able to create more protected living conditions for those at risk of malaria. This year we will be extending this opportunity to donate to Nothing But Nets on World Malaria Day.

Beat the Bloodsuckers

Our Beat the Bloodsuckers campaign takes place during Mosquito Control Awareness Week (MCAW), which is the last week in June. For every new customer who signs up during this week, we’ll donate $10 to Nothing But Nets! In the past, $10 supplied one bed net to families in need. However as of 2019, we are excited to announce that $10 now covers the cost to purchase and ship TWO bed nets, as well as educate the recipient on its proper use. Helps us reach our goal by spreading the word to those around you to sign up for a service or by donating here.

The Impact

Last year, about half of all the malaria infected countries reported fewer than 10,000 malaria cases and Paraguay became the first country in the Americas to be certified malaria-free in 45 years. On top of this, 11 more countries are on the same path of elimination in the next 2 years! Furthermore, in the last decade malaria deaths have declined by over 50%. However, more support is needed to eradicate this disease that still threatens half of the world’s population.
Mosquito Joe continues to help thousands of families sleep safely under insecticide treated bed nets at night to prevent the spread of malaria and ensure that no parent should have to worry about their child contracting this illness from a mosquito bite. Join Mosquito Joe of DuPage County in our ongoing battle to eliminate malaria!
